A brief history of Perx
Perx was started by two guys with the same mission.
Our story starts 7 years ago... Strap in.
Two friends, one idea
Hugo and Scott have been best friends since high school. They played sports together, surfed together, and generally schemed about how to change the world.
In their early careers Scott studied experimental and behavioral economics at college, and Hugo consulted for high-engagement industries like consumer, retail and gaming. This exposed them to both the theories of behavior change but also how they were being applied to products.
Information flyers won’t help grandma.
Perx began when Hugo noticed his elderly grandmother struggling to stick to her doctor’s treatment plan. She was overwhelmed, and the only support she received were educational flyers from the clinic.
Scott and Hugo realized that the highly engaging, ‘sticky’ tools they’d seen in industries - like social media, gaming and gambling - could be used for good to help people like Scott’s grandmother.
Motivate for good
That founding principle still drives Perx today.
We believe that older patients, those managing multiple chronic conditions and those in financial hardship deserve the best health support. These are the folks that digital health typically leaves behind, but we take pride in making products that motivate them to look after their own health.
